Windows shortcut to invert colours that works

I have a visual impairment and light sensitivity so I need to be able to invert colours to get a dark screen when there is no dark mode available (which is most of the time). On a Mac which I use for my day job, I can invert colours and use the zoom with shortcuts which is great. But I use a beefy Windows workstation for my TLA+ work and while I can use the zoom with shortcuts, the advertised Ctrl + Alt + I for inverting the colours simply does not work and from google searching I see that others have the same issue.

Yesterday I stumbled on another way to invert colours with a shortcut in Windows 10 - colour filters.

  1. Turn off colour inversion in Windows Magnifier.

  2. Go to Colour filters.

  3. Choose “Inverted”.

  4. Select the checkbox for “Allow the shortcut key to toggle filter on and off”.

Now Windows + Ctrl + C toggles colour inversion.
